Choosing The Right Collection

Every celebration is different, so we'll take the time to understand your plans before recommending the collection that best suits your needs.For Wedding Day coverage, we recommend confirming your wedding date before making a booking, as availability is based on the exact date. If your plans change, your collection can be upgraded at any time before the event, but it cannot be downgraded once your booking has been confirmed.For ROM sessions, our 2-hour collection is designed for one location, giving you plenty of time for the registration, family portraits, and couple session. If you'd like to explore an additional location for your portraits, we recommend our 4-hour collection, which offers greater flexibility and a more relaxed experience.

Question 3

Can we extend our photography coverage on the day?

Absolutely! If you'd like to extend your coverage during the session, we'll do our best to accommodate your request.Extensions are subject to the photographer's availability and schedule on the day. If there are no conflicting commitments (such as outstation travel or another booking), we're happy to continue documenting your celebration.Additional coverage will be charged at the overtime rate stated in your invoice. Please refer to the Terms & Conditions on your invoice for the applicable overtime fees..

Question 4

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking as soon as you've confirmed your event date, especially for weddings and popular weekends, as our availability is limited each year.All bookings are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Your date will only be secured once the booking form has been completed and the required retainer has been received. Until then, your preferred date will remain available for other enquiries.If you're still in the early planning stage and simply exploring your options, you're always welcome to get in touch. We'd be happy to answer your questions and help you find the collection that's right for you.Please note that all collections are subject to the pricing in effect at the time your booking is confirmed. Previous enquiries or quotations do not guarantee the same rates if our pricing has been updated.

Do you offer destination photography services?

Absolutely! We provide Wedding Day and Pre-Wedding photography services throughout Peninsular Malaysia, East Malaysia, and overseas.For locations more than 30 km from our studio, an additional travel fee will apply. The exact fee will be shared during your enquiry, as it varies depending on the destination and travel arrangements.For outstation assignments outside the Klang Valley, remote areas, or overseas, accommodation is required. If you're unable to arrange accommodation, we're happy to do so on your behalf for RM200 per night. Full-day wedding coverage typically requires two nights of accommodation.Travel and accommodation fees reflect the time, distance, and logistics involved in delivering the best possible experience for every couple. Question 6

How do we secure our booking?

Our bookings are confirmed on a first come, first served basis. To reserve your date, simply follow these steps:Contact us to check your preferred date and availability.Complete our booking form.We'll prepare and send you an invoice based on your booking details.A 50% retainer is required within 3 days of the invoice date to secure your booking.Please note that your date is only confirmed once the retainer has been received and acknowledged by our studio. Verbal confirmations, enquiries, or completed booking forms alone do not reserve your date.If the retainer is not received within the invoice validity period, the booking will be automatically released and made available to other couples. In the event of multiple enquiries for the same date, priority will always be given to the first couple who completes the booking process and payment.

Question 7

Can we reschedule our booking?

As our bookings are secured with a non-refundable retainer, we do not offer cancellations or refunds once your booking has been confirmed. However, we understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, and we'll always do our best to help.In the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as an accident or the loss of an immediate family member, we're happy to offer one complimentary reschedule (subject to our availability) or allow you to transfer your booking to your family or friends.If you wish to reschedule for personal reasons, an administration fee of RM200 will apply. All rescheduled dates are subject to the photographer's availability.

Question 8

Can I transfer my booking to someone else?

Accepted Answer

We understand that plans can change, and if you're no longer able to proceed with your booking, you may transfer your collection to another couple or family member.To arrange a transfer, simply contact us with the new client's details. The new booking will follow our standard booking process, including availability confirmation and completion of a new booking form.Collections may be upgraded or transferred to another collection of equal value, but they cannot be downgraded. For example, a ROM Collection may be upgraded to a Wedding Day Collection by paying the difference in the required retainer, but a Wedding Day Collection cannot be transferred to a lower-value ROM Collection.Once the transfer has been completed, a new invoice and booking confirmation will be issued under the new client's name, and the previous booking will be considered void.If you have any questions, we're always happy to help.

Question 9

Why don't you provide the RAW (unedited) files?

We believe that every photograph is only complete after it has been carefully curated and professionally edited. Delivering unedited RAW files would not accurately represent our work or the experience we strive to provide.Rather than asking you to sort through thousands of images, we carefully review every photograph, removing test shots, blinks, duplicates, and images that don't meet our quality standards. We then handpick the strongest moments, thoughtfully edit them, and present you with a refined collection that tells your story beautifully.For a typical 2-hour ROM session alone, we may capture over 1,500 photographs. Our role is not only to document your day but also to curate the very best images, allowing you to relive your memories without the overwhelming task of choosing from thousands of files.Keeping our RAW files has been part of JY Captures' philosophy since day one. Like a chef's signature recipe or an artist's original sketch, RAW files are part of our creative process and intellectual property. We hope you'll trust our expertise to deliver a collection that reflects the quality, consistency, and storytelling style you've chosen us for.

What if I don't like the photographs you select?

t's a question we completely understand, but the truth is, couples usually choose JY Captures because they already connect with our storytelling style, editing, and artistic vision.Every image we deliver is carefully handpicked with intention. We don't simply choose the "best-looking" photographs. We curate the moments that best reflect the emotions, connections, and story of your day.Our goal is for you to receive a gallery that feels cohesive, timeless, and genuinely representative of your celebration. We hope you'll trust us just as you trusted us to document one of the most meaningful days of your life. ❤️

Can we discuss the photography style beforehand?

Absolutely. We encourage every couple to share their ideas, inspirations, and preferences during the planning process. Whether it's a particular mood, colour palette, or reference images, we're always happy to explore them together.That said, every wedding is unique. Factors such as lighting, location, weather, timeline, and natural interactions all influence the final photographs. While we can certainly draw inspiration from reference images, we don't believe in recreating someone else's work exactly.Our goal is to preserve the authenticity of your day while staying true to the storytelling style that defines JY Captures. We love embracing new ideas and creative challenges, but never at the expense of quality or genuine moments. We believe the most meaningful photographs are the ones that feel naturally and uniquely yours.

What's included in your editing?

Our editing style is guided by a documentary approach—preserving the genuine emotions and atmosphere of your day while enhancing each image with care and consistency.Every delivered photograph includes:Our signature colour grading and editing styleComposition refinement and cropping where neededBasic skin retouching, including the removal of temporary blemishes, minor scars, and perspirationMinor distractions or small unwanted objects removed where possible
To preserve authenticity, we do not provide:Body or facial reshaping (such as slimming or facial contouring)Alterations to facial features, eye size, makeup, or hairstylesExtensive background manipulation, such as removing large crowds or creating elements that were never thereUnrealistic edits, including changing the weather, replacing skies, or digitally adding people or objectsPose alterations (for example, changing an embrace into holding hands)If there are any specific preferences or concerns before your session, we'd love to hear them in advance. We'll always do our best to guide you throughout the shoot so you feel comfortable, confident, and beautifully yourselves.

Question 13

How will we receive our photographs?

All photographs are delivered through a private online gallery, where you can easily view, download, and share your images with family and friends. Your gallery will remain available for three months, giving you plenty of time to download and back up your photographs.Most of our collections include high-resolution digital images (soft copies) only. If you'd like a printed wedding album, it can be added as an optional upgrade.For our Full Day Wedding Collection, you'll also receive a beautifully packaged keepsake USB drive containing your final edited photographs. It will be carefully prepared and delivered to you after your wedding as a lasting memento of your special day.

Every celebration is unique, so the final number of edited photographs may vary depending on the timeline, weather, locations, lighting, and the flow of your day. These figures are estimates rather than guarantees. If your celebration naturally offers more meaningful moments, we're always happy to include them in your final gallery at no additional cost.
